The Hesco 3802LV is an ultralight, ultrathin Level III rifle plate designed to be worn in conjunction with IIIA soft armor. At just 0.55 inches thick and about 2.3 lb in the SAPI Medium cut, it is one of the thinnest and lightest rifle plates available, built for low profile and concealable carry where bulk is the enemy.
The “ICW” in its rating is important: the 3802LV reaches its Level III rifle protection when worn over a IIIA soft armor backer, not on its own. This is because the LV plate is built without the front foam layer that a stand-alone plate uses, which is what keeps it so thin and light. Worn correctly over IIIA soft armor, it stops common rifle threats including 5.56 M193, 7.62×39 M67 and mild steel core M43, 7.62×51 M80, and 7.62×63 (.30-06) soft point. It does not stop 5.56 green tip M855 or armor piercing rounds.
Because it relies on a soft armor backer, the 3802LV is the plate to choose when you already run IIIA soft armor and want to add rifle protection with the least possible added thickness and weight. If you need a plate that works on its own, the stand-alone Hesco 3802C is the certified Level III option.
Each plate is built with an advanced composite core and ships as a set of two for front and back coverage.
If you need green tip coverage, look at the Level III+ Hesco 3612. For armor piercing protection, step up to a Level IV plate such as the Hesco 4601.
Best for: low profile and concealable setups where the wearer already runs IIIA soft armor and wants to add thin, light rifle protection.
