The Hesco 3802C is the lightest certified hard plate HESCO makes, and one of the most versatile. At just 2.5 lb in the SAPI Medium cut and 0.95 inches thick, it gives you stand-alone NIJ Level III rifle protection at a weight closer to soft armor than to a typical rifle plate. It is also waterproof and buoyant, so it floats, which makes it a natural fit for maritime and water borne operations.
Level III means the 3802C stops common lead core rifle rounds such as 5.56 M193 and 7.62×51 M80, along with 7.62×39 M67 and mild steel core M43. It is not rated for 5.56 green tip M855, which falls under Level III+, and it does not stop armor piercing rounds. Because it is stand alone, no soft armor backer is required.
Built with an advanced composite core and a waterproof polyurea coating, every plate is NIJ 0101.06 certified and ships as a set of two for front and back coverage.
If you need 5.56 green tip coverage, step up to the certified Level III+ Hesco 3612. If you want the same Level III protection even lighter and do not mind wearing it over soft armor, the Hesco 3802LV is an in conjunction with option. For armor piercing protection, move up to a Level IV plate such as the Hesco 4601.
Best for: buyers who want the lightest possible certified rifle plate, maritime and water borne use, and anyone who values low weight and buoyancy over green tip and armor piercing coverage.
