The Hesco M210 is the plate to reach for if your primary concern is the AK platform. HESCO builds it for full AK-47 protection, and its special threat testing covers the complete range of common 7.62x39 loadings, from M67 and mild steel core M43 all the way up to 7.62x39 API armor piercing. It also stops 5.56 M193, M855/SS109, and M855A1.

Special threat means the M210 is tested against that defined list of rounds rather than carrying an NIJ level rating. Its advanced Spectra polyethylene build keeps it thin and light for the protection it offers, at just 0.61 inches thick and about 5.2 lb in the SAPI Medium cut. The multi-curve shape wraps the torso for all-day comfort under a carrier.

Each plate ships as a set of two for front and back coverage, wrapped in a water repellent Cordura finish.

If you face threats beyond the AK, including 7.62x51 and .30-06 armor piercing, step up to a certified Level IV plate such as the Hesco 4601. For the lightest possible special threat option against lead and mild steel core threats, look at the Hesco Z210.
