A micro rig gets you three mags and a good feeling about how light it is. Then you go to put a radio somewhere. A tourniquet. The medical you actually carry. The .308 mags for the other rifle. There is no room and there was never going to be. So you look at a full size rig and now you are strapping on something built for a two day patrol to get through a range day.
The Kilo 5 Chest Rig Placard is built for the ground in between.
Its wings are part of the rig body rather than something you add to it, so the rig arrives at its full width already balanced and already mounted. Each wing takes a radio, a spare magazine, a medical kit or tools. Laser cut MOLLE runs across the front and both wings, so a tourniquet holder or a small pouch sits exactly where your hand already reaches for it.
The front is a kangaroo pocket running an elastic triple 5.56 insert. The sides adjust for height, so the same pocket works with longer 5.56 mags or shorter .308s without leaving you fishing for the pull. If you want organization sitting in front of your ammunition, an SRV Zip Insert Pouch 5″ fits ahead of the insert with all three magazines still riding behind it.
The back is where the Kilo 5 stops behaving like a placard. Two rear pockets take up to .308 magazines, which is not something a placard usually offers. Add a Padded Zipper Rear Pack or a Zipper Placard Rear Pack to the rear hook field when you want flat storage and something softer between the rig and your back.
It runs as a chest rig the moment you open the box. The Laser Harness and Back Strap are both included, so what you see on this page is a complete rig rather than a starting point. When you want it on armor instead, run a MOLLE Tubes cummerbund and the same rig becomes a carrier mounted placard with the side wings already there. A Drop Pouch or dangler hangs off the bottom. Loop fields sit center front and on both wings for name tapes and identifiers, positioned so they do not eat into working space.
Built as a chest rig first with real placard capability, the Kilo 5 sits between a micro rig you have outgrown and a full size rig that is more than you need.
